Geoffrey Francis Broughton Woodhouse was awarded the Military Cross
The citation covering Lt. Woodhouse's award says that on Dec. 14 1944, Lt Woodhouse led a fighting patrol forward of our advanced position to Artillery Ridge, on Bougainville. The enemy was dug in on the precipitous ridge, and due to previous bombardments and air strike; had a clear field of fire. "Lt Wood-house led his patrol forward and on reaching the crest of the ridge was engaged by the enemy from these positions. Although outnumbered the patrol inflicted many casualties
"Four days later he participated in a company attack on the same feature, again displaying resources and extreme courage."
