James was born in 1903 at Norham, Northumberland, England, a son of William Clazie and Eleanor Crawford.
He migrated to Western Australia in 1926. He married Janet Ransome and they later had 2 children.
Directories from 1939-49 showed this address: Clazie Jas, 23 Bunbury st, Collie.
James enlisted in the Australian army in 1941 with the rank of Staff Sergeant in a Light Aid Detachment and he was dischrged in 1945.
He died in 1984 at Buckingham, Western Australia, age 80, and was buried at Collie:
