Medical Board, 5 October 1917, concluded that 'the life of this soldier is not likely to be endangered by an English winter', and that 'his malady would not be aggravated by an English winter'. 'Age' was stated to be a major factor: '57 and looks it'; disability: senility. Attached for duty, Army Pay Corps, AIF Administrative HQ, London, 29 January 1918.
