Signalman William Morton Love (Service Nos:QX45215/Q1721) enlisted in the ACMF on 24 March 1941 and was a Signalman attached to 3 Australian Armed Division Signals when he enlisted in the AIF on 6 January 1943. He served in New Guinea (14 October 1943 to 12 November 1944) and was attached to 18 Line of Command Signals when he was Discharged on 13 November 1945. Siblings Henry (LAC; Service No:134987) and John (Sergeant; Service No:23451) also served in WWII.
Born in 1914 in Wynnum, Brisbane QLD, William was the fifth of six children of Henry Charles Love (b1878 in Brisbane, QLD) and Jane Goostrey (b1880 in Brisbane, QLD). Henry (a Labourer) and Jane married in Brisbane in 1901 and lived in Acacia Ridge and Ipswich where Henry was a Labourer before settling in Wynnum, Brisbane QLD where Henry was a Carpenter.
William worked as a Labourer and Factory Hand in Wynnum and in 1942 married Ruby Maud Severns (b1919 in Brisbane, QLD). Following WWII, William remained in the Australian Army, and he and Ruby lived in the Brisbane region. William died in 1979 and Ruby in 1997.
