Signalman Javis Amarald Towie (Service No:WX16691) served in the Australian Army from 24 September 1941 to 14 December 1945 and was attached to 32 Australian Line Section at Discharge. Signalman Towie then served with Royal Australian Corps of Signals, and on 21 May 1953 was awarded the First Clasp to the Australian Efficiency Medal.

Javis was born in 1920 in Manjimup WA to Victor Towie (b1895 in Lancashire, England) and Ella Constancy Trestrail (b1895 in Willochra, South Australia). Victor arrived in Fremantle WA with his parents and siblings in 1906 on board the Orontes and lived in Balbarrup and Jardanup where his father was a Farmer. Victor was a Log Hauler in Collie WA when he enlisted in WWI and was a Farmer in Jardanup when he and Ella married in 1919. Victor and Ella lived in Manjimup and Belmont where Victor was a Farmer, before he became a Lift Attendant at the Commonwealth Bank Buildings in Perth in the mid 1930s.

In 1944 in Perth WA, Javis married Doris Maggie Board (b1920 in Perth, WA) - Doris was a Shop Assistant in Perth. Following Javis' Discharge from the Army in 1953, he and Doris settled in Perth where Javis worked as a Carpenter. In the 1970s they were living at Mundaring where Javis was a Group Officer. Javis died in 1994 and Doris in 2009.
