Son of Frederick George O'Bree and Mary Ann O'Bree nee Freeland of William Street, Preston, Victoria.
Apprenticed to J. Davies of Collingwood, Victoria for four years
Brother of Frederick Freeland O'Bree who was killed in action on 8 November 1916 while serving with the 23rd Battalion and is buried in the Dartmoor Cemetery, Becordel-Becourt. Plot 11, Row E, Grave 54; Stanley Pierpoint O'Bree who was killed in action on 4 July 1918 while serving with the 60th Battalion and is buried in the Mericourt-L'Abbe Communal Cemetery Extension, France. Plot 111, Row F, Grave 8;
