"PRIVATE W. J. STYLES.
Mr. Mirrington had a similarly sad task the same day, in conveying to Mrs Styles, who resides near the Forbes cricket ground, word that her son, Pte. Walter John Styles, had made the supreme sacrifice. The deceased soldier enlisted in January, 1916, joining up with the Boomerangs on their route march through Forbes. The late Private Styles was one of several of the same name to enlist, and his brother is still at the front, while a cousin only recently returned from the front. Widespread sympathy is with Mrs Styles in her great loss." - from the Forbes Advocate 24 Sep 1918 (nla.gov.au)
