Harry was the eldest of two children of Joseph Henry Fairy (b1893 in Melbourne, Victoria) and Evangeline (Eva) Jarman (b1887 in Melbourne, Victoria). Joseph (a Draper) and Eva married in 1912 in Melbourne, Victoria where they raised their two sons and Joseph worked as a Draper, Grocer and Salesman.
In 194o Harry was a Picture Framer in Melbourne, Victoria when he enlisted in the ACMF (Sevice No:V52311). He was a Gunner attached to 2 Medium Regiment in August 1945 when he was Demobilised. Brother William (Lance Corporal; Service No:VX48685) served in WWII and died in Changi.
Harry married Mary (Maisie) Isabella Thomson (b1918 in Scotland) - Maisie had emigrated in the late 1920s with her parents and siblings and was a Munitions Worker in 1942 in Melbourne, Victoria when she and Harry married. The couple settled in Melbourne, Victoria where Harry was a Radio Technician and Sales Representative. They later moved to Sydney NSW where Harry died in 2001 and Maisie in 2018.
