Grace was the daughter of Thomas Bryce Fitzgerald and Margaret Fitzgerald nee Madden.
Grace served in the First World War as a Nurse in the Australian Imperial Force (Army). She left Australia aboard the Transport 'Kaiser-i-Hind' on 18 Dec 1916 for Suez. She returned to Australia per Úlysses' on nursing duty on 15 Feb 1918. Medals: British War Medal and Victory Medal
