Craftsman Ralph Jones (Service No:TX16213) initially enlisted in the ACMF on 12 August 1940 as a Private (Service No:T30675) attached to 30 Garrison Battalion. Private Jones served in New Guinea (12 January 1944 to 28 October 1944 with 10 Australian MT Workshops) and was at Milne Bay on 22 February 1945 when he enlisted in the AIF and was a Craftsman attached to 11 Base Workshops. Craftsman Jones was attached to 10 Australian MT Workshops when he was Discharged on 2 November 1945.
Born in 1900 in Launceston Tasmania, and registered as Ralph Colgtave, Ralph was the third child of Frances (Fanny) Isabella Colgrave (b1869 in Morven, Tasmania). By 1903 Fanny was living with William Edward Jones (b1844 at Guernsey, Channel Islands). William (a Cabinetmaker) arrived in Hobart in 1953 on board the Coromandel and lived in Evandale. William and Fanny married in 1912.
Ralph worked as a Labourer in Evandale and in 1937 married Vera Annie Davey (b1901 in George Town, Tasmania). Ralph worked as a Labourer and Carpenter and he and Vera lived in Evandale and St Leonards. Ralph died in 1950 and Vera in 1962.
