Daughter of Capt. Charles DOUGLAS, Royal Navy and Alice Gertruce nee MARDON

NOK - Brother, Godfrey Douglas, Locomotive Department, Hopetoun, Western Australia

Trained at Melbourne Hospital November 1907 - November 1910

Served in Egypt and Transport Ship "Borda" and in England and extensive service in the field in France.

Promoted to Head Sister 01 March, 1916.

Alice was mentioned in despatches receiving  two Oak Leaves (One Large and one Small on 26 Sept 1920).

Sister A.G. Douglas, who has secured a Royal Red Cross (2nd Class) was one of the nursing sisters who left Australia with Miss Bell, in 1914.  Before leaving for the front she was sister at the Melbourne Hospital, while in Egypt she was attached to No. 1 Australian General Hospital.

It appears that after her military service, but still with the AIF, she was deployed to Ireland.  Alice was granted leave from 26/2/1919 to 26/6/1919 with pay and subsistence of 6/- per day; reason Midwifery; Attending Rotunda Hospital in Dublin Ireland.

She returned to Australia per 'Osterley' 06 November 1919
