Uncle Percy

Percy with his 4 brothers served in the AIF in WW2. He saw a long campaign in Europe and PNG. Very honoured to have him as my Uncle. Percy died in 1953.

Percy, eldest son of Henry and Victoria Davies was born in Cleveland,Queensland where his father was stationed as a police officer. The family returned to  country Victoria, where he grew up around farming.  He follows his brother 2 months later into war. Aged nearly 38 he sees action in the Middle East before being sent home to be trained up for jungle warfare. He suffers from illness before being sent to Moresby and other places He served for 1932 days in the Army in the 2/1 Battalion. Uncle Percy came home to Echuca, married Edith a war widow with two small children. They had the one son Neil together before Percy died from a brain tumour in 1953. Aged 50 RIP
