Corporal Sylvia May Davis (Service No:WF90479) enlisted in the AWAS on 27 December 1942 as a Private, and was promoted to Corporal on 3 April 1943. Corporal Davis was attached to 7 Australian Returned Stores Depot (ARSD) when she was Discharged on 12 December 1945.

Born in Subiaco in Perth WA, Sylvia was the third of six children of Henry Harold Davis (b1895 at Jarrahdale, WA) and Sylvia Hazel Gladys Doddemeade (b1894 at Findon, South Australia). Henry (a Brickmaker) and Sylvia married in 1915 in Perth WA where they settled and raised their family and Henry worked as a Brickmaker and Truck Driver.

Sylvia worked as a Shop Assistant in Subiaco before enlisting in the AWAS, and in 1947 married Albert William Leonard McDowall (b1911 in Hampshire, England) - Albert had served in the RAAF in WWII and was a Divorcee when he and Sylvia married. Sylvia and Albert settled in Perth WA where Albert worked as a Plasterer. Albert died in 1988 and Sylvia in 2003.
