Ken was the third of eleven children of Victor Arnold Stuart Fraser (b1897 in Railton, Tasmania) and Eileen Elizabeth Barker (b1901 in Penguin, Tasmania). Victor (a Butcher's Assistant) and Eileen married in Rocky Cape, Tasmania in 1921. They lived in Burnie, Wynyard and Stanley where Victor was a Butcher. By 1936 the family had  moved to Tarraleah, where Victor worked as a Labourer.

Ken enlisted in the Australian Army in May 1943 and served with the 2/4 Pioneer Battalion (Private; Service Nos:TX14443/T29253). Ken was in New Guinea with the 2/4 Pioneer Battalion - in the Kuching region undertaking garrison duties and processing Japanese PoWs. He was Discharged in July 1946.

Returning to Tasmania, Ken was working as a Cook in Burnie, Tasmania when he married Coral Maida (b 1925) in 1948. They settled in Burnie, where Ken worked as an Assistant. Ken died in 1981.
