53 years ago today, on the 9th January 1970, Private Thomas Sneddon, 1st Battalion (Reg No-3837), labourer from Eighth Street, Boolaroo, New South Wales, was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 75. ANGLICAN 3-210. 35.

Born at Warners Bay, New South Wales on the 22nd November 1894 to Peter and Emma Sneddon; husband? of Mary Ann Sneddon nee? (married?, died 1962, sleeping here - ANGLICAN 3-210. 37.), Thomas enlisted July 1915 at Newcastle, N.S.W.

Admitted to hospital 3.5.1916 (trench feet), 25.1.1919 (bronchitis).

Wounded in action - 22.7.1916 (SW right arm), 17.4.1918 (GSW left arm, right knee, mild).

Granted leave to England 6.8.1917 to 23.8.1917.
Thomas returned home on the 30th October 1919, being discharged on the 6th January 1920.

Mr. Sneddon’s name has been inscribed on the Boolaroo District Pictorial Roll of Honour.

I have placed poppies and a 1914-1918 WAR label at Thomas’s gravesite in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.
