Thomas was the son of Thomas DAVIES & Nellie Gertrude CARRINGTON and was born in 1889 in Hotham West, Melbourne, VIC.

At the age of 26, Thomas enlisted into the 1st AIF on the 6th of March 1916 in Adelaide allotted the service number 1654 and posted to A Company, 2nd Depot Battalion in Exhibition Camp.

He was then posted to the 27th Battalion, 16th Reinforcements before being transferred to the 48th Battalion, 2nd Reinforcements.
Thomas embarked from Adelaide on board HMAT A60 Aeneas on the 11th of April 1916, disembarked in Pt Suez on the 14th of May and marched into the 12th Training Battalion.

When the training Battalion relocated to England, so did Thomas, to complete his training and he was hospitalised with Influenza in England.
He embarked for France in September 1916 and was awarded the Military Medal for Gallantry at Messines Ridge.
Thomas then suffered from defective vision and was evacuated to England in July 1917 where he was classified medically unfit.

Thomas embarked from England on the 10th of September 1917 on board HT Ulysses and disembarked in Adelaide on the 9th of November.

Thomas was discharged, medically unfit, from the AIF on the 14th of December 1917.

Thomas joined the Alberton RSL Sub-Branch and they later moved to 62 Prince Street, Alberton.

Thomas died in hospital on the 3rd of November 1941 and was buried the following day in the Cheltenham Cemetery; Section N, Drive C, Path 32, Site Number 358N, with their infant daughter Maria.
