Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Harold Murray was born in 1901 in Tungamah Victoria and lived at Daysdale for most of his short life. He enlisted in 1916 with the 55th Battalion. He was a bomber protecting a machine gun post near Bullecourt when a shell fell on the position killing several men outright and inflicting mortal shrapnel wounds to Murray's head. He died a few days later in the USA Base Hospital at Boulogne on the coast of France.

His sister wrote to Base Records in 1967 regarding his Anzac Medal, and she said he was 15 when he enlisted and died aged 17. He had 8 younger siblings.
