William (Bill) was the son of Samuel and Gertrude Dennis, brother of Eileen, Norma, Molly and Betty.  Husband of Phil, father of Kristine, Robyn, Alan, Marie-Majella and Brian.  Grandfather of Christian, Bronwyn, Marc, James, Tobias, Katherine, Nadia, Isaac, Sarah, Andrew and Alan. 
William (Bill) enlisted for the Citizen Military Forces on Christmas Eve in 1941, he later transferred to the Australian Imperial Force.  He spent approximately 20 months of active service overseas and was discharged in 1945.  He had fond memories of his time spent at Dungong near Maitland where he completed his training.   

He served at Milne Bay in Papua New Guinea with the 12th Australian Water Transport Company (Smallcraft).  He had for many years been reluctant to speak of his experiences in the Second World War, however in recent years he had told many stories of his time based at Milne Bay in Papua New Guinea.
