Mant was apprenticed to Queensland Railways for 5 years.

Mr M. Dufferin-Doorey
The death occurred of Mr Mant Dufferin-Doorey, formerly a corporal of the 7th Field Engineers AIF at his residence Webster Rd, Liverpool. Death was caused by the effects of war wounds and gas. Mr Duffein-Doorey served twelve months in Egypt, and later in France where he won his stripes for bravery in the field. Later in 1917 he was wounded and gassed while engaged in bridge building on the Aisne.
