Corporal Leo Thomas Doyle (Service No:VX128551) first served in the Cadets and Militia (Private; Service No:326079) with 29/22nd Battalion (23 July 1934 - 22 October 1935). On 8 April 1942 he enlisted in the ACMF (Private; Service No:V197510), serving with 13 Armoured Regiment and 20 Anti Tank Battery before Discharging on 18 June 1944 to enlist in the AIF the next day. Promoted to Corporal - graded Carpenter - on 4 August 1944, he was attached to 3 Australian Base Ordnance Depot (BOD) at Discharge on 7 February 1946.
Lee was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1918, thrid of four children of Michael (Jack) John Doyle (b1887 at Woods Point, Wonnangatta, Victoria) and Estella (Stella) May Clarke (b1890 in Melbourne, Victoria). Jack was a Labourer in 1913 when he and Stella married in Melbourne, where they settled and raised their family. Jack worked as a Labourer, Blacksmith's Striker and Railway Employee until his death in 1927.
Lee worked in Melbourne as a Labourer and was a Tannery Worker in Melbourne where, in 1939, he married first wife Audrey Moreen Skepper (b1918 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Audrey was a Machinist in Melbourne. Lee and Audrey divorced and both remarried - Lee in 1941 to Glenwys Grace McMinn (b1921 in Melbourne, Victoria). Following his Discharge, Lee and Glenwys divorced and in 1949 Lee married Gladys Lorraine Spark (b1923 in Ballarat, Victoria) - Gladys was a Process Worker in Melbourne. Lee and Gladys settled in Melbourne where they raised their family and Lee worked as Fitter, Metal Polisher and Metal Worker. Lee died in 1998 and Gladys in 2009.
