The Service Record for TX1319 Robert Jaynes is not yet available online, as he re-enlisted in 1947 and served in the Army until 1963.
The file containes 227 pages and was photographed by Mr G. Winkler at the NAA in North Melbourne Victoria on 6 March 2025, at the request of Mr G. Barker (King Island) who arranged for the file to be opened for public assess. The WW2 portion of the record can be located in the Documents section on this page.
It appears that a Service Record covering his enlistment through to early 1943 is missing. A letter from Jaynes mother indicates he was serving in the Middle East from 1940, which is most likely correct as the 2nd/12th Battalion fought at Tobruk. He also served in New Guinea where he was wounded.
