Private Kevin Harry Robert Wood (Service Nos:N264224/NX144390) enlisted in the ACMF on 12 February 1942, and was a Gunner attached to 12 Australian Field Regiment on 6 August 1942 when he enlisted 'in the field' in the AIF. Private Wood served with 2/5 Australian General Hospital (AGH) in Morotai (17 March 1945 - 1 February 1946), and was attached to 2/5 AGH at DIscharge on 5 September 1946.
Kevin was born in Sydney, New South Wales in 1923, only child of Ernest Allan Wood (b1898 in Yorkshire, England) and his first wife Lilian Christina Drummond (b1898 in Dipton, New Zealand). Ernest had immigrated with his parents in 1900, arriving in Sydney on board the Oroya, and worked as a Motor Mechanic in Sydney before enlisting in the AIF in 1917. Following his Discharge, Ernest was working as a Fitter when he and Lilian married in Sydney in 1922 - they had separated by 1937 and divorced in 19139 (both remarried). Ernest worked in Bondi as a Pipe Fitter.
Kevin was a Munitions Worker and Sheetmetal Worker in Sydney when he enlisted in the Army. Following his Discharge, he returned to Sydney and in 1948 married Aileen (Mavis) Carroll (b1921 in Sydney, New South Wales) - Kevin was working as an Assistant and Mavis as a Stemmer (stripping tobacco leaves from stems). Kevin and Mavis settled in Sydney, where they raised their family and Kevin worked as a Welder and Taxi Driver until his death in 1984. Mavis died in 2011.
