Daughter of Isabelle and John Sweeney of Mitchellville. Sister of Dr JC Sweeney. Wife of TD Mallinson.  Sister Sweeney was the first matron of the Cowell Hospital in 1911.

She volunteered in 1914 for the Australian Army Nursing Service, 3rd Australian General Hospital and served in Daradanelles and Francedd. 

She was awarded the "Mentioned In Despatches" for her work and bravery in the field. She lived to the age of 92 years
