“Ray” Blight was born in Ballarat and was a 26-year-old Electrical Engineer when he enlisted in Melbourne on 19 July 1915. His previous service had been with the School Cadets and 12 months with the 9th ALH. On transfer to 18 Coy AASC Ray had the rank of Lance Corporal. Driver Blight embarked for return to Australia on 12 June 1919 on the Troopship Thermistocles, disembarked in Melbourne on 8 August and was discharged on 30 September 1919 on his Termination of his Period of Enlistment.
