Taken Prisoner of War 23 Feburary 1941 at Airkom Timor.  Released 30 August 1945.  During that time he was imprisoned at Ousepa Besar (Timor), Tandjong Priok (Java), Changi, 6 jungle Camps (Siam) and Omuta (Japan).

Upon returning home he was suffering from a dislocated spine, chipped hip bone and ankle bone, ulcerated stomach, and weakening eyesight.  He was 2 1/2 stone under wight.
