Ernest was the son of John Black and Jane Black nee Jinks.
World War 1 Service: Ernest enlisted on 6.3.1916 as a Private and served with the A.I.F. in England and France and was discharged on 22.8.1919. Medals: British War Medal and Victory Medal.
In 1922 Edward married Eva Angeline McHarry.
