Lance Corporal Eric Robert Reid (Service No:N105483) enlisted in the ACMF on 7 March 1941 as a Private with 3rd Australian H T Coy. He was promoted to Lance Corporal on 29 December 1941 and transferred to BIPOD NSW. Lance Corporal Reid was attached to 3 Auxiliary HT Coy when he was Discharged on 11 August 1944.

In his WWII Attestation Papers, Eric gives his birthplace as Canley Vale, NSW - he was born in Newnham, Launceston Tasmania in 1891, the eldest son of Charles Sydney William Reid (b1870 in Launceston, Tasmania) and Edith Elsie Wright (aka Ada; b1867 in Launceston, Tasmania). Charles and Edith married in 1891 in Launceston, Tasmania where they settled and raised their nine children and Charles was a Farmer.

Eric was a Labourer in Launceston in 1911 when he married Mary (Nell) Ellen Hansen (b1883 in Launceston, Tasmania). Eric and Nell moved to Sydney NSW and in 1913 Eric was working as a Carter in Sydney.  On 1 February 1915 he enlisted in the AIF and was Discharged on 11 February 1915 because he refused to get vaccinated. Eric and Nell settled in Sydney NSW where Eric worked as a Carter and Labourer. Nell died in 1968 and Eric in 1970.
