Biography contributed by ken cowan

Private Thomas Shea was a war hero, having been awarded the Military Medal for bravery in WW1.

However, the effects of being gassed in the trenches in the war had a serious impact on his physical health and he was unable to work after his discharge and combined with having not been granted a service pension he continued to suffer.

He was found deceased in Wickham Park, Brisbane on New Year's Eve 1935 and susequently was buried in a pauper's grave at Toowong Cemetery, Brisbane.
