Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of late John and Agnes MORAN

Husband of Lucy nee SHERLOCK

Last Week Father Gilroy, in the absence of Father Lynch in the South-West, conveyed to Mrs. Moran, of May street, the sad news of the death in action of her husband, Sergt.  Bartholomew John Moran, who left for the front in January, 1916, with the 7th Reinforcements, 28th Battalion. The widowed mother, who is on a visit from Bunbury, was also  present to hear the heartbreaking message. The deceased soldier, who was only 28 years of age, was born in Queenbeyan, N.S.W., and came to this State at an early age. He was a pupil of St. Anthony's Convent School, Coolgardie, and for 11 years prior to enlistment was in the Ways and Works, Midland, where he was very popular among his fellow- workers. At Bayswater on Sunday, Father Lynch asked the prayers of the congregation for the repose of his soul. R.I.P.
