Private Thomas Gilbert Roberts (Service No:V406023) served in the ACMF with 14th Battalion VDC from 16 August 1943 to 21 September 1945.
Tom was born Warracknabeal, Victoria in 1924, second of four children of Thomas (Tom Snr) Percival Roberts MM (b1895 in Willenabrina via Warracknabeal, Victoria) and Olive (aka May) May Christian (b1901 in 1901 in Willenabrina, Victoria). Tom Snr was a Farmer in 1922 when he and May married in Warracknabeal. They lived in Willenabrina and Portland where they raised their family and Tom Snr was a Farmer. Tom Snr served in WWI (Private; Service No:2441) and WWI (Sergeant; Service No:V06006).
Tom started work as a Farm Labourer and was a Mechanic in 1948 when he married Margaret Joyce Bond (b1924 in Dimboola, Victoria) - Margaret was a Clerk with the National Bank of Australasia and had served in the RAAF (Corporal; Service No:110426). Tom and Margaret lived in Portland before moving to Jeparit in the early 1950s and then Chiltern where they raised their family and Tom was a Farmer. In the 1960s they moved to Geelong where Tom was a Railways Employee and retired to Drysdale nr Geelong. Margaret died in 2015 and Tom in 2022.
