Private George Edward Hanton (Service No:V400562) enlisted in the ACMF on 21 January 1942. He served with 15 Battalion VDC until Discharge on 9 October 1945.

Born in 1912 in Frankston Victoria, George was the second of three children of William Mark Hanton (b1878 in Adelaide, South Australia) and Ellen Clement Annand (b1883 in Maryborough, Victoria). William (a Clerk in Melbourne, Victoria) and Ellen married in 1907 in Melbourne, Victoria. They had moved to Frankston by 1912 and William was an Orchardist and Gardener. William served in WWI (Private; Service No:1875) and WWII (Private; Service No:V358616).

George completed his studies at the Victorian College of Pharmacy by 1936 and worked in Frankston before settling in Ealehawk in Bendigo, Victoria. In 1938 he married Clara (Doll) Melita Ashman (b1911 in Eaglehawk, Bendigo, Victoria) - Clara was a Typiste. George and Doll lived in Bendigo, Bacchus Marsh and Frankston where George was a Pharmacist/Chemist. George died in 1972 and Doll in 2008.
