Private Frederick William Vickery (Service No:W69190) served in the ACMF with 1st Battalion VDC from 14 September 1942 to 20 February 1944. His father - Frederick William Vickery MM - served in WWI (Service No:3056).

Fred was born in Lancashire, England in 1901, eldest of six children of Frederick William Vickery Snr (b1878 in Kent, England) and Mary Elizabeth Hollingworth (b1879 in Nottinghampshire, England). Fred Snr (a Paper Maker) and Mary married in Lancashire in 1900, and settled in Kent where Fred Snr was an Electrical Engineer with a Cable Factory. The family immigrated in 1912, arriving in Fremantle WA on board the Gothic. Fred Snr first worked as a Mechanic in Perth, and was a Telegraph Linesman in 1916 when he enlisted in the AIF. Following his Discharge, Fred and Mary settled at Elgin Siding via Boyanup, where they raised their family and Fred Snr was a Farmer, and later a Bus Proprietor in Bunbury.

Fred was a Canvas Worker in Perth - making tents and tarpauilns - and in 1928 married Jessie Matilda Emery (b1905 in Kent, England) - Jessie immigrated in 1911, arriving in Fremantle on board the Australind. Fred and Jessie settled in Perth, where they raised their family and Fred was a Canvas Worker. Fred died in 1986 and Jessie in 1992.
