Private Lindsay Kuhnell (Service No:V380028) served in the ACMF from 18 April 1943 to 20 September 1945 with 11th Battalion VDC.
Born in 1925 in Melbourne Victoria (although he gives Neerim as his place of birth in his Attestation Papers), Lindsay was sixth of eight children of Charles Rudolph Kuhnell (b1880 in Malmsbury, Victoria) and Henrietta Rebecca Smith (b1895 in Neerim, Victoria). Charles (a Labourer) and Henrietta married in 1914 in Melbourne where they raised their family and Charles worked as a Labourer. Four of their sons - Ron, Gordon, Bert and Lindsay - and daughter Rita - served in WWII.
Lindasy was workng in Neerim as a Farm Labourer in 1943 when he enlisted in the ACMF. In 1944 he married Mabel Lillian Edney (b1925 in Neerim, Victoria). Linday and Mabel settled in Neerim and Bairnsdale, where they raised their family and Lindsay was a Farmer. Lindsay was in Melbourne Hospital when he died in 2004, and Mabel died in 2011.
