Private Erle Eugene Augustus Scott (Service Nos:W31000/W70557) served in the ACMF with 5th Battalion VDC and 19th (Res) Garrison Battalion from 24 August 1941 to 15 October 1945. Brothers Jim, Doug and Percy also served in WWII.
Erle was born in Bunbury, Western Australia in 1909, eldest of eight children of Eugene William Henry Scott (b1882 at Minninup via Stratham, Western Australia) and Grace Campbell Hill Forrest (b1888 in Bunbury, Western Australia). Eugene (a Farmer) and Grace married in 1906 in Busselton, and settled at Irwin Farm via Elgin where they raised their family and Eugene was a Farmer. In 1937 Eugene died from injuries recieved whena chip from wood he was chopping flew up and penetrated his brain. Grace remained at Irwin Farm.
Erle worked as a Farm Hand in Elgin, and in 1930 in Bunbury married Violet (Vi) Vickery (b1909 in Kent, England) - Vi immigrated with her parents and siblings in 1913, arriving in Fremantle on board the Gothic (Vi lived in Perth before moving to Elgin Siding post WWI). Erle and Vi settled in Elgin, where they raised their family and Erle was a Farm Hand/Farmer. Erle died in 1992 and Vi in 2001.
