Private Arthur Edward Pigdon (Service No:V379497) enlisted in the ACMF on 3 October 1942 - he had previously served with the Militia Forces (Service No:442536) from 10 April 1934 to 31 August 1935 with 2nd Heavy Brigade. Private Pigdon was attached to ^ Battalion VDC when he was Discharged on 18 October 1945.

Born in 1914 in Geelong Victoria, Artie was the eldest of five children of Arthur Ernest Pidgon (b1887 in Queenscliff, Victoria) and Elsie Rose Ruddick (b1889 in St Arnaud, Victoria). Arthur (a Labourer) and Elsie married in 1914 in Queenscliff, Victoria where they settled and raised their family and Arthur was a Fisherman.

Artie worked as a Fisherman in Queenscliff, Victoria where in 1938 he married Constance Rose Gibson (b1916 in Rokewood, Victoria). Artie and Constance settled in Queenscliff where Artie worked as a Fisherman and later a Mine Assistant until the 1960s when he started working as a Storeman and then as a Civil Servant. Artie died in 1992 and Constance in 2004.
