Private James Herbert Drummond (Service No:W70695) served in the ACMF with 5th Battalion (WA) VDC from 19 April 1942 to 22 October 1945.

James was born in Bunbury, Western Australia in 1906, eldest of two children of Herbert William Drummond (b1880 in Dandaragan, Western Australia) and Evangeline Crampton (b1879 at Brunswick Junction, Western Australia). Herbert and Evangeline married in 1904 in Brunswick Junction, and settled in Benger where Herbert was a Farmer. In 1917 Herbert enlisted in the AIF (Trooper: Service No:3532; 10th Light Horse Regiment) - discharged in 1918 with no overseas service. Herbert and Evangeline lived in Waddouring via Toodyay, where Herbert was a Farm Manager, and in Balingup, where Herbert was a Farmer in partnership with son James (Drummond & Sons) until 1940. Herbert and Evangeline moved to Cunderdin, where Herbert was a Farm Manager before settling in Kelmscott in the late 1940s. Herbert was an Orchardist and member of the Kelmscott Agricultural Society.

James was a Farm Hand at Elgin via Bunbury, and in 1938 in Bridgetown married Hazel Frances Armstrong (b1905 in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia) - Hazel was living in Bridgetown. James and Hazel settled in Balingup, where they raised their family and James was a Dairy Farmer in partnership with his father until 1940. In the early 1950s James and Hazel moved to Bridgetown, where James was a Farmer before retiring to Perth in the late 1960s. James died in 1979 and Hazel in 2003.
