The second child of Bruce Andrew Allan (b1879 in Scotland) and Jessie (Kate) Catherine McAlpine Adam (b1881 in Scotland), Robert was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1911. Bruce (an Agricultural Labourer) and Kate (a Chemist's Invoice Clerk) married in 1906 in Glasgow and emigrated with their two sons in 1912, arriving in Fremantle WA on board the Belgic. The family settled in Fremantle WA where Bruce worked as a Cellar Hand and Labourer.
Robert worked as a Storekeeper at Worooloo, WA and in 1935 married Phyllis May McAllister (b1913 in Bolulder WA). The couple settled in Highbury nr Narrogin WA where Robert was a Storekeeper and served with the Militia (103 Howitzer Battery). In 1942 he was Storekeeper and Agent at Jennacubbine nr Northam WA when he enlisted with the ACMF (Lance Corporal; Service No: W73354). He served with 9 Battalion VDC and was Discharged on 11 June 1946.
By 1949 Robert and Phyllis had moved to Latham near Perenjori, WA. Robert was Storekeepr and Agent until he and Phyllis retired in the early 1970s and relocated to Mandurah WA. Robert died in 2007 and Phyllis in 2009.
