Private Sydney Douglas Dawson (Service No:W88765) served in the ACMF - 10th Battalion (WA) VDC - from 26 June 1943 to 15 October 1945.

Born in 1925 in Wagin WA, Syd was the eldest child of Harry Douglas Dawson (b1893 in Balaklava, South Australia) and Florence (Florrie) Annie Bolt (b1901 at Devon Downs, South Australia). Harry (a Farmer) and Florrie married in 1922 in Wagin, WA and lived at Damper Flat in Dumbleyung and Bullock Hills via Katanning where Harry was a Farmer. Harry had arrived in WA in 1903 and grew up at Bullock Springs before enlisting in the AIF in WWI (Private; Service No:2317). Harry also served in WWII (Private; Service No:W74131). Harry and Florrie retired to Bunbury in the early 1960's.

Syd was a Farm Hand at Bullock Springs via Katanning when he enlisted in the ACMF, and settled there following his marriage in the mid 1950s to Barbara Joyce Hollands (b1934 on the Isle of Wight, England) - Barbara immigrated with her parents and siblings in 1951, arriving in Fremantle WA on board the Strathnaver and settling in Wagin, WA. Syd and Barbara settled at Bullock Springs via Katanning where Syd was a Farmer. Syd died in 1978.
