David Livock Stewart's story
David Livock Stewart was born 20 Nov1896 at “Braehead” farm Newstead, Victoria, Australia.
Went to school at Newstead and Joyces Creek.
1908 He would have completed his compulsory education aged about 12 years.
1911Nov aged 15 The family moved from Newstead to ‘St Ewarts’ allotment 27 Danyo (Cowangie).

1915 Jul 03 aged 18 years and 7 months enlisted in Australian Infantry Forces.
1915 Jul 08 Medically examined. 5’10 3/4”, 10st 7Lbs, chest 33.36”, brown eyes, dark brown hair,
scar over right eye and below right knee due to barbed wire cut.
1915 Jul12 Consent to enrol as under 21 years of age signed by Parents: David & Mary E. Stewart.
1915 Jul14 aged 18 years 7 months signed oath and enlisted in AIF Service Number 940.
1915 Jul16 to Aug12 joined B Company at Flemington depot for recruit training.
1915Aug12 to Mar14 joined A.I.F., 5th Aust. Division, 6th Brigade, 31st Battalion, D Company.
1915 Nov 09 Embarked Melbourne on HMAT “Wandilla” disembarked at Suez, Egypt 07 Dec1915.
1916 Feb15 The CO of the 31st Battalion appointed him Lance Corporal at Serapeum, Egypt.
In Egypt transferred to the newly formed 5th Australian Division, 25th Howitzer Brigade, 31st Battalion.
1916 Mar15 transferred as a Gunner (no longer a Lance Corporal) to 5th Australian Division,
25th Howitzer Brigade, 114th Battery at Tel el Kebir, near Cairo in Egypt.
1916 Jun07 transferred to 5th Division Artillery, 25th Howitzer Brigade, 115th Battery.
1916 Jun19 embarked on the H.M.T. Tunisian at Alexandria, Egypt.
1916 Jun 25 disembarked the H.M.T. Tunisian at Marseilles, France.
1917 Apr 05 posted to 5th Australian Division, 13th Field Artillery Brigade, 113th Battery after the 115th Battery was disbanded following a re-organisation.
