Corporal Athol Hubert Hingston (Service Nos:T7724/TX12213) enlisted in the ACMF on 21 September 1940 (Driver Mechanic), and was attached to 12/50 Infantry Battalion on 9 November 1942 when he transferred to the AIF. Corporal Hingston was attached to 12/50 Infantry Battalion at Discharge on 16 March 1944.
Athol was born at White Hills, Tasmania in 1915, seventh of nine children of Hubert William Henry Hingston (b1878 at Westbury, Tasmania) and Marion Blanche Trethewie (b1881 at White Hills, Tasmania). Hubert was a Farmer at White Hills when he and Marion married in 1902 in Launceston. They settled at White Hills, where they raised their family and Hubert was a Farmer.
Athol wworked at White Hills as a Farmer before enlisting in the Army in 1940, and in Launceston in 1941 married Mary Elizabeth Chugg (b1915 in Evandale, Tasmania). Following his Discharge in 1944, Athol and Mary lived in Frodsley via Conara, where Athol worked as a Tractor Driver. In the mid 1950s Athol and Mary settled at White Hills, where they raised their family and Athol was a Farmer. Mary died in 1979 and Athol in 1997.
