Private Ross Padman Raston (Service No:W75852) enlisted in the ACMF on 16 April 1942 and served with 15 Battalion VDC until Discharge on 18 October 1945.

Born in 1908 in Perth WA, Ross was the eldest of five children of Walter Alfred Raston (b1879 in Bungaree, South Australia) and Madeleine (May) Padman (b1880 in Glenelg, South Australia). Walter (a Train Examiner) and May married in 1908 in Perth WA. Walter had worked with the WA Government Railways in Geraldton - 1091 as a Cleaner - in Kalgoorlie in 1903 and in Fremantle WA from 1904 as a Train and Carriage Inspector. By 1916 Walter and May had settled in Tammin WA where they raised their family and Walter was a Farmer. The children travelled in to Tammin to attend school from Monday to Friday, returning home to the farm for the weekends.

In 1938 Ross was a Farmer in Tammin when he married Annie May Stevens (b1914 in Kellerberrin WA). Ross and Annie settled at Tammin where Ross was a Farmer. Annie died in 1989 and Ross in 2004.
