Cyril Stanley Mann became Registered Player Number 0972 at VFA club Port Melbourne in 1946 and went on to play in 43 senior games which included being in the team that won the 1947 Grand Final.

He previously played with AFL team Carlton in 39 games from 1939 to 1942 when he was then called up for war service. He served with the 2/23 Battalion which helped defend Tobruk and served until 26 April 1944. Upon his return to Australia he played in a further 3 games for Carlton at the start of the 1945 season but then decided to cease playing football.

In 1946 he returned to football and played a few games with VFA team Brunswick before joining the Port Melbourne team. He starred In the 1947 VFA Grand Final and won the Port Melbourne Football Club’s Best & Fairest Award that year. He subsequently continued to play for Port Melbourne in the 1948 season but retired from football mid-way through the season.

Sadly Cyril died of a heart attack in 1964 at just the age of 46.
