Private Laurance Charles Davis (Service No:WX14754) enlisted in the Australian Army on 2 July 1941 in the Australian Army Trades Group Pool before transferring in December to 2/32 Infantry Battalion. Private Davis served with No 1 Special Battalion and Bulk Petrol Storage Coy and was attached to 2/28 Infantry Battalion (Middle East and New Guinea) when he was Discharged on 13 April 1945.
Born in 1910 in Kalgoorlie WA, Laurie was the eldest of two children of Rowland William Davis (b1884 in Melbourne, Victoria) and Carol Daisy Victoria Hitchcock (aka Daisy; b 1887 in Melbourne, Victoria. Rowland (a Plumber ) and Daisy married in Fremantle WA in 1908 and lived in Kalgoorle before settling in Perth WA. Rowland served in the AIF in WWI (Sapper; Service No:20482) and he and Daisy lived in Perth where Rowland was a Plumber until his death in 1926.
Laurie worked as a Plumber in Perth and in 1937 married Leah Clara Green (b1915 in Norseman, WA). By 1949 Laurie and Leah had separated and Leah worked in Perth as a Cafe Attendant and Laurie in Collie as a Teacher. Laurie died in 1981.
