Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Born in Boulder, WA in 1910, Ron was the eldest son of Henry (Harry) Bodinner (b1880 in Quorn, South Australia) and first wife Esther Minnie Carne (aka Minnie; b1884 in Sandhurst, Victoria). Harry (a Blacksmith) and Minnie married in Boulder WA in 1909, and settled there. Following Minnie's death in 1918, Harry remarried.

Ron was a Machine Miner in Boulder WA, and in 1938 married Margaret (Maggie) May McCulloch (b1920) in Boulder WA. In April 1942 Ron enlisted in the Australian Army (Private; Service No:WX21549) and served with 2nd/32nd Infantry Battalion in the Middle East and New Guinea. He was WiA in NG in November 1943 and evacuated by air. In June 1944 he was transferred to Boulder Hospital with Malaria and Asthma and was Discharged.

Ron and Maggie remained in Boulder WA (where Ron was a Miner) until the early 1950s when they relocated to Tuart Hill in Perth WA. The couple settled in Perth and Ron worked as a Barman until Maggie's death in 1978, when he moved to Melbourne, Victoria. Ron died in 1982.
