Lance Corporal Douglas Bruce Scott (Service No:WX13955) enlisted in the AIF as a Private on 9 June 1941, and was attached to 2/16 Infantry Battalion when he embarked with his Unit from Fremantle for the Middle East on 7 November 1941 (RTA on 29 January 1942). Private Scott served  two tours in New Guinea on detachment to NGF Composite Carriers Group (14 August 1942 - 5 August 1943 and 23 September 1943 - 31 July 1944). Lance Corporal Scott (promoted on 1 September 1944) was attached to 2/16 Infantry Battalion at Discharge on 10 October 1944. Brothers Erle, Jim and Percy also served in WWII.

Doug was born in Bunbury, Western Australia in 1918, fourth of eight children of Eugene Henry William Scott (b1882 at Minninup via Stratham, Western Australia) and Grace Campbell Hill Forrest (b1888 in Bunbury, Western Australia). Eugene and Grace married in Busselton in 1908, and settled at Irwin Farm via Elgin where they raised their family and Eugene was a Farmer. Eugene died in 1937 when a chip from wood he was chopping flew up and penetrated his brain. Grace remained at Irwin Farm.

Doug was a Farmer/Farm Labourer in Elgin when he enlisted in the AIF in June 1941. In September that year in Bunbury, Doug married Patsy Beryl Gibsone (b1922 in Harvey, Western Australia). Following his Discharge from the Army, Doug and Patsy settled at Irwin Farm via Elgin, where they raised their family and Doug was a Farmer. Doug died in 2003 and Patsy in 2005.
