Private Robert Jilley (Service No:WX15287) enlisted in the AIF on 23 July 1941, and was attached to 3 and 4 Training Battalions. Private Jilley served with 2/32 Battalion - graded Intelligence Duties - in the Middle East (7 November 1941 - 18 February 1943) and New Guinea (7 August 1943 - 7 February 1944), and was attached to 2/32 Battalion at Discharge on 3 October 1944. His father - Captain Oscar Jilley MiD - was KiA in France in WWI.

Bob was born in Bunbury, Western Australia in 1908, only child of Oscar Jilley (b1877 in Lancashire, England) and Ann McNaughton (b1868 in Kingston, Victoria). Osacr, a Telegraph Messenger with the Postal Department in England, immigrated in 1898, arriving in Albany on board the Austral. Oscar moved to Collie, where he was a Miner in 1906 when he and Ann married. They lived in Bridgetown before settling in Kulicup via Boyup Brook, where Oscar was a Farmer until enlisting in the AIF. Following his death in France in 1915, Ann ran the farm (Glenora) until Bob was of age.

Bob worked in Kulikup as a Farmer, and in 1934 in Katanning married Charlotte Harriet Emily Gibbs (b1904 in Kojonup, Western Australia). Bob and Charlotte settled in Kulikup, where Bob was a Farmer until his death in 1967. Charlotte later remarried, and died in 1999.
