8 Dec 1941:	Embarked Australian Military Forces (WW2) , Private, TX3986, 2nd/40th Infantry Battalion, From Darwin to Timor; disembarked 0n 12 December 1941.
8 Dec 1942:	Embarked Australian Military Forces (WW2) , Private, TX3968, 2nd/40th Infantry Battalion, Soon after arriving in Timor Hays was hospitalized, and by 5 January 1942 had been evacuated to Australia. He contracted polio eventually leading to his discharge as medically unfit.
1 Sep 1943:	Discharged Australian Military Forces (WW2) , Private, TX3986, 2nd/40th Infantry Battalion
