Private George Frederick Francis (Service No: W23039) enlisted in the ACMF on 22 September 1941 and served with 28th Infantry Battalion in Darwin NT (4 April 1943 - 27 February 1944 and April 1944 - 29 November 1944). Private Francis embarked from Darwin NT on 21 November 1944 for Jacquinot Bay on board USAT Evangeline - he was in Borneo until 19 October 1945. Private Francis was Discharged on 20 November 1945. He had served in the Militia (Private; Service No: 274640) from 1 April 1933 to 1 July 1935.

Born in 1915 in Midland Junction WA, George was the eighth of nine children of Henry (Harry) Edward Tulloh Francis (b1871 in Melbourne, Victoria) and Jane (Jean) Irene Crawford (b1878 in Glasgow, Scotland). Harry (an Engine Fitter) and Jean married in Scotland in 1897 and arrived in Fremantle WA in 1913 on board the Belgic. The family settled at Midland Junction WA where Harry was an Engine Fitter/Engineer.

George worked as a Labourer in Midland Junction, WA and in 1948 married Clarice Mary Humphrey (nee Curley; b1911 in Armadale, WA). George and Clarice settled in Perth WA where George worked as a Milk Carter and Fitter. In the mid 1970s they moved to Rockingham WA where George worked as a Fitter until retirement. George died in 1984 and Clarice in 2007.
