Son of James Viccars and Marion Viccars nee Sykes of Clarence Street, Geelong West, Victoria

Stewart had served a six months apprenticeship with J.C. Taylor of Geelong, Victoria 

Brother of Henry (Harry) Rober Viccars who returned to Australia on 17 July 1915 having served with the 14th Battalion

Commenced return to Australia on 24 January 1919 aboard HT Delta disembarking on 10 March 1919
