Gave his age at enlistment as 18 but was about 15 years old.

Son of Cornelius Hendricus Vandyk and Marie Vandyk of Mayville Estate Violet Street, Punchbowl, NSW. 

Commenced return to Australia on 7 February 1919 aboard HT Lancashire disembarking on 24 March 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney
